Purpose
Only a bot token from @BotFather is required. The Telegram server address is already configured.
Connection fields
| Field | Rule and default value | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Telegram Bot API serverapi_url | As configured Default: https://api.telegram.org | Change only for your own Bot API server: https://server[:port]. Do not enter a t.me/bot_name link, @bot name or token here. |
Bot token from @BotFathersecret | Separate protected field | Copy only the token: digits, a colon and the secret part. A t.me/… link and @bot name are not tokens. |
Setup and validation
- Open @BotFather in Telegram, create a bot with /newbot or select your bot through /mybots, and copy its token.
- Paste the token into the field below and click “Test”. Save the connection after a successful check.
- In a test message or flow block, choose “Direct to user” or “Group or channel”. “Find recipient ID” helps select the required chat. The bot name identifies the sender, not the recipient.
- For a direct message, the user must first open this bot and press Start. For a group, add the bot and allow sending; for a channel, give the bot administrator publishing rights.
“Test” confirms the token and Telegram connectivity without sending messages. To check chat access, complete “Test message” and click “Send test message”. An empty token field in a saved connection uses the previously stored token.
Use in a flow
This connection is used by the “Telegram message” block. The bot name is the sender, not the recipient. Select the destination type and a verified chat. “Test” checks the token; “Send test message” actually sends text. ID lookup is not a complete address book and depends on available bot updates.
