Purpose

For rows meeting the conditions, assigns constants, parameters, values from other fields, formula results or NULL to fields. Without conditions, it applies to every row.

Inputs and outputs

One in input and one out output. The row count is preserved; new fields are created in every row and remain NULL in unselected rows.

Parameters

ParameterSettings and valuesOptions and limits
modeall/any for row-selection conditions.Options: all, any
Default: all
predicatesRow-selection conditions. Each condition contains a field, operator and comparison value.Count: 0–100
assignmentsFrom 1 to 100 assignments in execution order. Each field is assigned only once within the block.Count: 1–100
decimalThe decimal separator for numeric values in the input data.Options: ., ,
Default: .

Defining a condition

ParameterWhat it configures
columnThe row field to check.
opEqual eq, not equal ne, greater than gt, greater than or equal gte, less than lt, less than or equal lte, contains contains, starts with starts_with, in a list in, not in a list not_in, empty empty, non-empty not_empty.
value_modeComparison source: constant — a constant value; parameter — a parameter from an earlier block; field — another field in the current row. To compare with another table, join the required field first.
value / value_fieldA constant or comparison-field name. For in and not_in, enter one value per line.
parameter_block / parameterThe parameter block and parameter name; the parameter must have been prepared earlier in this branch.
numericEnable for numeric comparison. An empty value does not satisfy a numeric condition; text that cannot be parsed as a number causes an error.

Assignment parameters

ParameterWhat it configures
fieldThe target field.
sourceconstant, parameter, field, formula or empty.
value / value_typeA constant and its text/number/boolean/date type.
parameter_block / parameterA reference to a parameter from an earlier block.
source_fieldAnother field in this row.
expressionA formula in the same format as “Calculated fields”.

Step-by-step configuration

  1. Add row-selection conditions if needed; without conditions, every row is changed.
  2. Add an assignment and select the target field or enter a new name.
  3. Specify the constant/parameter/field/formula/empty source.
  4. For a constant, select its type; for a formula, check the available fields and parameters.
  5. Check both matching and non-matching rows.

Rules and diagnostics

  • Assignments run from top to bottom: a later assignment sees the value set by an earlier one.
  • An existing field is overwritten only in selected rows.
  • Date constants use YYYY-MM-DD. Numbers must be finite; Boolean values accept the corresponding yes/no values.
  • A missing source field or a parameter not yet prepared stops the block.
  • Comparison with reference data is not supported here; route the rows earlier.

Configuration example

Condition: Status=Draft. Assignments: Status ← text Submitted, SubmittedAt ← formula today(), AmountUAH ← field("Amount") * param("Rate"). Other rows retain their Status and have NULL in the new fields.

Comparison with a reference element

A condition can use value_mode=member: an IBM Planning Analytics dimension element, a UBC Analytics dimension element or a form relation value. Select the connection and object, then the element and matching method. The compared value is captured when configuring the condition; it is not a dynamic join to another source for each row. Recheck the selection after the relevant element or attribute changes. Use value_mode=field to compare two columns in the current row.
