Purpose

Checks each row against one or more conditions and passes only matching rows. Use it to select a period, status, range of values or populated keys.

Inputs and outputs

One input, in, and an out output with the same structure and a subset of the rows.

Parameters

ParameterSettings and valuesOptions and limits
modeall means the row must meet every condition; any means at least one is sufficient.Options: all, any
Default: all
predicatesRow-selection conditions. Each condition contains a field, operator and comparison value.Count: 1–100
decimalThe decimal separator for numeric values in the input data.Options: ., ,
Default: .

Defining a condition

ParameterWhat it configures
columnThe row field to check.
opEqual eq, not equal ne, greater than gt, greater than or equal gte, less than lt, less than or equal lte, contains contains, starts with starts_with, in a list in, not in a list not_in, empty empty, non-empty not_empty.
value_modeComparison source: constant — a constant value; parameter — a parameter from an earlier block; field — another field in the current row. To compare with another table, join the required field first.
value / value_fieldA constant or comparison-field name. For in and not_in, enter one value per line.
parameter_block / parameterThe parameter block and parameter name; the parameter must have been prepared earlier in this branch.
numericEnable for numeric comparison. An empty value does not satisfy a numeric condition; text that cannot be parsed as a number causes an error.

Step-by-step configuration

  1. Connect the source and read the fields.
  2. Add conditions and select the field and operator.
  3. Set a constant, run parameter or another field. Enable numeric comparison for numbers.
  4. Choose all/any and check the count and sample rows after filtering.

Rules and diagnostics

  • Non-matching rows do not reach the output; there is no separate rejection output. Use routing to split rows between branches.
  • This block does not dynamically compare each row with another table. A selected reference member can supply a comparison value, as described below.
  • The parameter must have been prepared by an earlier block on the same branch.
  • Normal text comparison is case-sensitive; standardise the text beforehand if needed.

Configuration example

Keep only rows with Status=Approved and Amount>0: mode=all, the first condition is text and the second uses numeric=true. Add the period with a Month=“Period” parameter condition.

Comparison with a reference element

A condition can use value_mode=member: an IBM Planning Analytics dimension element, a UBC Analytics dimension element or a form relation value. Select the connection and object, then the element and matching method. The compared value is captured when configuring the condition; it is not a dynamic join to another source for each row. Recheck the selection after the relevant element or attribute changes. Use value_mode=field to compare two columns in the current row.
