UBC Data Bridge Agent

Use local data in cloud workflows

UBC Agent is a service for Windows, macOS and Linux that connects approved folders, databases and internal applications to Data Bridge. It runs inside your network and opens a secure connection. You decide which data it can access.

Shared flow logic for local and cloud data

01

Use resources inside a private network

Files on a workstation, a shared exchange folder and an internal database can become part of one data flow. For example, an agent provides access to an approved branch folder while Data Bridge validates its records, enriches them with cloud reference data and sends the result to a planning application.

  • Local and network folders accessible to the agent
  • Supported databases at a specified host and port
  • Internal HTTP APIs with approved request methods

02

The connection starts inside your network

The agent establishes an outbound connection over port 443 using WebSocket or HTTPS requests, with support for a corporate proxy. The supported route does not require a public IP address on the agent computer or open inbound ports. A separate inner TLS 1.3 channel authenticates the agent and gateway through mutual certificates.

03

Define the boundaries of access

The computer administrator specifies resources and permissions: which folder may be read, where files may be written and which server may be contacted. The agent checks each operation against those rules. Data Bridge provides controls to disable or revoke an agent and review its activity log.

  • Specific permissions for folders, hosts, ports and API methods
  • One-time registration and agent confirmation
  • Operation logs and centralized access management

Choose the deployment that fits

The agent service is available for Windows, macOS and Linux and works with cloud or locally hosted Data Bridge. Select the agent in a compatible connection, or choose an agent folder for file access. Processing stays in the familiar flow, helping teams avoid separate integration logic for each network.

FAQ

Your questions, answered.

How to connect your data, manage access and get started.

Do I need to open an inbound port?

For this connection, the agent initiates outbound communication over port 443. Your network must permit that connection to the address of your Data Bridge installation.

Does the agent gain access to the whole computer?

No. Operations are limited by configured resources and permissions. Other hosts, methods and folders are not automatically made accessible.

Can the agent work with local Data Bridge?

Yes. It connects to your own installation or cloud environment. The agent computer must remain running and able to reach the required resources.
